This lithograph published in 1987 is taken from an original work by the Master of Figueras titled "San Salvador and Antonio Gaudi Fighting for the Virgin's Crown"
1960, gouache. 19 x 25 cm.
In ths History of art of the XXth Century, the creators of authentical religious art works are very rare. The two main ones are without doubt Catalan Antonio Gaudi the architect of the "Sagrada Familia" and Salvador Dali. That is the reason why Dali, who has strongly defended the Gaudi's Work has depicted here the architect fighting with him for the Virgin's Crown. This Dali's Virgin is featured in this gouache as in many other works by the Master of Figuera by his wife and muse Gala.
This lithograph entirely drawn by hand was printed in 16 colors on the presses of the Master Lithograph Desjobert workshop in Paris, France using four different qualities of paper whose weights and watermarks were specifically created for the publisher.
